what do you wear when there is nothing to wear?

i was in quite a dilemma this morning... again stuck with nothing to wear :( some high schoolers focus on simply being comfy - ALL the time. not in my town, my classmates like to look put together- but not quite runway style. like a wanna-be stylin' abercrombie/bp remix version. i'm a huge fan of teen vogue, and sometimes can find myself "pshh"ing them in my head. the un-creativeness of the current looks can be appalling... currently in are:



1 high waisted skirts

cute, almost effortless, but not for winter guys. you see these constantly paired with uggs... UGG! what an awful waste of a could-be date/town outfit. this brings us to our number 2...

2 uggs


UGG-LY. yes they are comfortable, and extremely popular. but this is trend oversaturation at its worst. they lack design and start to look gross after a while - over $100? no thanks.




3 black leggings as pants

yeah guys, let's stretch the dress code a little further. no one wants to see your pantyline. throw a skirt or dress on ever it - at least cover your butt!



4 i love...


statement headbands, bows and jewelry! so on my i-have-nothing-to-wear day i threw on a pair of skinnies, classic white v-neck tee, and clipped a black rose in my hair, above the ear. i also put on 2 bracelets (both of which i made) and some moccasins - still minimalistic but it worked!

Olympic ceremonies

i'm watching the opening ceremonies in Vancouver - wow! the projection onto the snow was simply stunning. the glaciers were incredible! as were the whales - my favorite part :) i wonder how it would look if not from above? someday i wish maybe i'd get the chance to go see an olympic ceremony. Canada did a fantastic job!

mmm... Cake

so it's my birthday on the 9th! i'm happy it's on a school day, then everyone tells you happy birthday :) sadly they only announce senior birthdays, but i have good friends and they will remember. i have to decide on what i want my cake to be: a nike shoe (i'm obsessed), a wave (love the ocean), or something else? i'm looking to challenge my mother this year lol.
also cool enough, it's also my date to winter formal's birthday on tuesday too! :)

so this is a wee bit late... my apologies, it's been a busy season! My christmas gifts included a wii (extremely entertaining), tiffany necleck and new guitar strings! i now can play various taylor swift, nickelback, and justin bieber songs but my favorite is "her diamonds" by rob thomas thanks to 911tabs.com, i've always wanted to learn how to play guitar, it sounds so pretty :) and i'm thinking my lessons will be starting soon!
the week of the new year celebrations was spent with family, and on new years eve my cousin (a year older) brought her soon-to-be boyfriend for us to meet. before going to her house for the party, my other devious cousins and i decided we'd each call his a different name whenever we spoke to him. by the end of the night i honestly couldn't remember his name! a favorite of his was "george" (mine). he really was charming though, not too bad looking either lol.
